Assistant Vice President, Donor Relations

The Assistant Vice President of Donor Relations at Brigham and Women's Hospital will create, implement, manage, and track a comprehensive donor relations program in accordance with the Brigham Development Office's (BDO) strategic fundraising goals. The scope of work includes recognition and acknowledgments, fund and impact reporting, gift agreement review and approvals, and related communications for key Brigham donors. The position reports to the Associate Vice President of Development, Campaign, and Donor Relations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overarching
Be responsible for a 12-person team to coordinate a comprehensive stewardship and recognition strategy for transformational, major, corporate, foundation, and planned giving donors to Brigham.
In coordination with Information Systems, ensure that all recognition and stewardship-related data is entered into the Atlas CRM database.
Manage the Donor Relations budget.
Create and revise donor relations policies and procedures, ensuring they are understood and adopted across the department.
Work closely with the Executive Team and Major Gift Officers to create standardized stewardship plans based on giving level and develop customized stewardship experiences for our most generous donors.
Manage the Brigham giving societies, including the Luminary Society ($1M+ lifetime donors) and the Catalyst Society ($100K-999K donors).
Oversee the uniform creation and maintenance of naming and recognition policies and guidelines, including materials for donor recognition, recognition walls, and displays.
Manage the capital naming opportunity inventory and guiding principles manual and develop tools for frontline staff to secure funds to support capital projects.
Collaborate with the Development Events staff on celebrations for new space dedications, BWH Endowed Chairs, HMS Professorship, and Catalyst and Luminary Society events.
Direct donor list assembly for any recognition listings (event program lists, publications, displays).
Preside over the program to create custom acknowledgment letters for major gifts on behalf of the Senior Vice President of Development and Brigham and Mass General Brigham (MGB) leadership.
Serve as the key liaison with BWH Facilities and Real Estate on matters relating to capital projects, donor-named space renovations and relocations, and signage.
Stewardship
Develop appropriate gift agreement templates and manage the development and approvals of gift agreements for major and principal gift donors. Liaise with the Mass General Brigham Office of General Council, Research Management, and Brigham Finance on complex gifts to ensure compliance.
Preside over a comprehensive annual stewardship narrative and financial reporting program for endowed funds and current-use gifts of $100K+; continually assess opportunities for efficiencies and new reporting formats.
Manage and track all BWH Endowed Chairs, HMS Professorships, and other donor-named endowed positions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree required, with 10+ years of related experience.
Direct report management experience required.
Strong commitment to customer service and exceptional quality standards.
Ability to establish best practices and operational efficiency.
Proficiency in a CRM and the MS Office product suite.
Familiarity with fundraising practices including IRS regulations related to gift acceptance, valuation, and 501(c)(3) operational requirements.

Knowledge of academic medical centers (AMCs).
