POSITION: Special Education Teacher K12
COMPENSATION: Pays up to $60 per hour
Qualifications:
- Possess or be eligible for a valid Delaware teaching license and be certified School Teacher in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1521.
AND
- Experience working with students who receive special education services.
- Be able to perform essential job functions including exerting between 20-50 lbs. of force and assisting students with mobility and transitions.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Instruct in reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to pupils using approved curriculum and appropriate learning activities in both self-contained and inclusion classroom.
- Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and related service staff to provide comprehensive special education services to students.
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Strive to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policies and administrative regulations.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies.
- Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Collaborate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
- Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
- Participate in professional growth activities.

Compensation: Pays up to $60/hour
Expected hours: 37.5 - 40 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
Education:
- Bachelor's (Required)
Experience:
- Classroom management: 1 year (Required)
- Lesson planning: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Delaware SPED Certification (Required)
