Role Summary:
Ensures that an organizations records are effectively managed, organized, secured, and retained in compliance with legal, regulatory, and business requirements while also supporting the organizations operational needs and objectives. The Archive Technician will be responsible for performing quality control inspections of the work performed throughout the records management life cycle.
What you will be doing:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists with the acquisition of new materials by receiving, cataloging, and accessioning archival collections into the repositorys holdings.
- Organizes and describes archival materials according to established archival principles and standards.
- Collaborates with digitization staff to convert analog archival materials into digital formats for improved access and long-term preservation. This involves scanning, metadata creation, and quality control of digital surrogates.
- Provides records management support including appraisal, retention scheduling, and disposition of records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Provides training and guidance to staff members on records management practices.
- Establishes systems for organizing and classifying records based on their content, importance, retention requirements, and confidentiality levels.
- Monitors the storage and organization of records in both physical and electronic formats, ensuring they are easily retrievable when needed and stored securely.
- Ensures compliance with security measures to protect sensitive or confidential records from unauthorized access, theft, or loss, while ensuring appropriate access for authorized personnel.
- Conducts regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with records management policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, and addresses any identified issues or discrepancies.
What we need from you:
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Active Top Secret Clearance is required.
- Knowledge of archival principles, standards, and best practices for arrangement, description, and preservation of archival materials.
- Experience with archival processing, including arrangement, description, and cataloguing using archival descriptive standards.
- Familiarity with archival metadata standards and systems.
- Experience with digitization processes, including scanning equipment, image editing software, and metadata creation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Knowledge of records management principles and practices preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in business or a Technical Discipline; applicable work experience may be used as an acceptable substitute.
- Four (4) years of experience
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Pay Range: $75,000 - $95,000
