Job Description:
Spiritus Sanctus Academy is currently seeking a Middle School Math Teacher to join our team of enthusiastic Catholic educators. Using a traditional instructional approach to help students develop mathematical reasoning and skills, the ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting the Catholic educational mission of our school and be able to provide a positive learning environment, organize the classroom to facilitate student learning, supervise the safety and welfare of students, and help nurture a positive Catholic culture, through his or her own example and by cooperating in the formation of each child as a joyful disciple of Christ
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Catholic educational mission of the school, upholding school policies
- Using a virtue-based approach in developing positive, appropriate relationships with students that foster Christian discipleship and a classroom environment conducive to growth and learning
- Establishing and maintaining a positive homeroom environment
- Preparing and delivering sound instruction to advance students towards content mastery
- Effectively assessing student learning and performance
- Providing attentive supervision of students
- Taking responsibility for planning and assisting with some school activity/activities
- Collaborating positively and supportively with school administration, faculty, staff and parents to maximize students' spiritual, intellectual, social and physical formation
- Responsibly complying with deadlines and expectations as communicated by the school
- Attending faculty meetings, professional development training, and other school events as required
Qualifications:
- A faithful practicing Catholic, who offers a joyful witness of a life of faith, and is passionate about creating and nurturing a Catholic culture in the classroom and throughout the school, according the mission of Spiritus Sanctus Academy
- Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience teaching Middle School is preferred, as is MI state certification
- An openness to and/or ability to teach another subject is preferable
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Knowledge and implementation of good instructional practices
- A mastery of content and a joy in teaching and interacting with young people
- Completion of Protecting God's Children/VIRTUS safe environment training and a background check
