The role of the Diesel Truck Shop Foreman is to exercise direct supervision of mechanics and assist them when necessary in diagnosis of mechanical difficulties and recommending needed repairs.Responsibilities:Inspect and, if necessary, road test vehicles upon completion of work to insure quality of repairs performed.Performs productive work as required.Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic testsIdentifying worn and damaged parts.Preventative Maintenance for FleetRoad rescue of truck breakdown/ accidentTruck repair, maintenance and Mechanic on fleet vehicles for the transportation dept.Perform other related tasks, as requested by the facility and fleet manager and/or the business owners.Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.All other duties as assignedRequirements:Maintenance experience on heavy duty trucks and trailers.Able to read and understand vehicle mechanical manuals and electrical schematics.Prioritize workload and efficiently manage time.Work independently without immediate supervision.Ability to conduct business over the phone in a civil and courteous manner.Understand and follow OSHA and DOT regulations.Honest and dependable with a strong work ethic.Physically capable of working in, around, on top and under the equipment, including standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching.Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 poundsPreferred Qualifications:High School Diploma and/or GEDASE Certification or equivalent work experienceCurrent driver's license and clear driving recordThis is a safety-sensitive position.It is the policy of this company to assure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, or disability.
