Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities:

The VCU Massey Cancer Survivorship Research is seeking to hire a PHD level research program manager to build the Cancer Survivorship research portfolio.This is a non-academic research position with an administrative appointment in the Massey Cancer Center.

Responsibilities will include preparation and submission of research manuscripts, overseeing active research protocols including all data collection, working with Clinical Trial Office and IRB on protocol submission, consenting of research subjects, supervising other research personnel, and collaborating with VCU research faculty on other survivorship research efforts.In addition, the research scientist will be responsible for seeking both internal and external funding sources and work with Dr. Palesh and other key faculty in grant preparation and submission.

Qualifications

Minimum Hiring Standards:

•Demonstrated experience working in an academic medical environment

•Demonstrated track record in writing manuscripts

•Excellent interpersonal skills; capable of interdisciplinary collaboration

•Outstanding academic writing skills

•Supervisory and/or mentoring experience

•Working knowledge of IRB and other regulatory requirements for the ethical conduct of research

•History of peer-reviewed published manuscripts as first author and co-author

•PhD in psychology, population science, health behavior or related field or equivalent training and experience

Preferred Hiring Standards:

•Experience working in oncology settings with clinical and/or research responsibilities

•Interest in opportunities to pursue small independent research projects related to cancer survivorship.

•History of grant submissions as PI and/or Co-I
