Whats new with Aptar

We have an exciting position open: EHS/Facilities Specialist, this position will report to the Director of Operations. This position will be based in Eatontown and is responsible for supporting and maintaining compliance with all Aptar policies and regulatory requirements. As a member of the Aptar Global EHS community, the EHS Specialist will directly contribute to the creation of a world-class safety culture and assist in the reduction of the environmental impacts of operations across Aptar, primarily focused in the areas of training, regulatory compliance, and direct support for Eatontown, NJ. This position reports directly to the Operations Director for the site.

This is how your journey begins:

  • You will evaluate current EHS programs and activities to ensure compliance with all government agency and regulatory requirements.
  • You will report, monitor, and correct environmental, health, and safety problems/issues.
  • You will coordinate corrective and preventive actions to address safety concerns.
  • You will guide and promote safe work practices by developing proactive EHS systems, policies, and procedures; develop safety and environmental campaigns, communications, and recognitions in line with business strategies.
  • You will maintain unique approaches to adult learning, and conduct training for all employees including but not limited to new hire onboarding safety training for temporary and regular employees, monthly safety training for all employees.
  • Maintain safety training records for all employees in Aptars learning platform.
  • You will develop, implement and maintain Aptar and regulatory EHS policies, standards, guidelines and programs to meet the overall improvement strategy.
  • You will assist in achieving Aptar environmental and safety goals, including injury, water, energy, and waste reduction.
  • You will respond to and support the overall Aptar sustainability strategy to ensure site is achieving company goals.
  • You will administer an environmental, health and safety audit program, including industrial hygiene.
  • You will maintain a PPE and GMP program, including managing PPE and GMP supplies.
  • You will own the sites Behavioral-Based Safety Observations Program (BBS Program), including training of employees, logging and tracking of observations and reporting status to leadership team.
  • You will have other duties as assigned.
  • You will be required to have local travel; limited domestic travel to regional meetings, conference, or events may be required.

What you will bring on the journey

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Experience

  • Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations and requirements (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Knowledgeable in the technical fundamentals of safety management and risk assessments and reduction, including machinery safety, ergonomics, and occupational health.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 EHS management systems is a plus.
  • Experience in plastic injection molding and highly automated manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Excellent presentation and training skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment while managing multiple assignments with strict deadlines.
  • Bi-Lingual English and Spanish Preferred.
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
