Job Description
Performs general clerical and receptionist duties supporting the patient care unit, including preparing, compiling and maintaining records in nursing unit.
Job Responsibility
- * Greets, interviews and registers patients or their representative.
- Verifies patient, guarantor, subscriber and insurance information and enters same into department computer system.
- Completes required forms for patient registration.
- Obtains, secures and witnesses required consents/signatures.
- Provides information regarding Advance Directives, Patient Bill of Rights and Notice of Privacy Practices. Completes questionnaire regarding Advance Directives for the patient's medical record.
- Attaches vouchers to lab specimens and arranges transport to lab, as required.
- Performs final chart review, incorporates loose sheets and ensures that the entire chart assembly is completed on discharge.
- Facilitates patient transfers to Emergency department, as required.
- Answers phones courteously, responds to requests for information, directs calls or takes messages, files, photocopies, faxes information, maintains bulletin boards, etc.
- Performs receptionist duties for clinic. Reviews and maintains daily attendance log. Informs clinical team member of pending appointments
- Photocopies and maintains supply of pertinent forms specific to unit.
- Reports all equipment needing repair and initiates work orders.
- Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Minimum of one (1) year related registration/clerical experience with public contact, required.
- Typing 35 wpm, required.
- Good interpersonal skills to deal courteously with patients, families, physicians and all levels of hospital personnel, required.
