Description

Vincennes University hires adjunct faculty each semester on an as-needed basis. Vincennes University is seeking adjunct faculty for the Information Technology Department. This is a part-time position located at the VU Main campus site. The individual will be responsible for teaching a course(s) within the following degree programs: Networking and Security, Programming, Cyber Security, and Information Technology
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create a student-centered learning environment that fosters student success through effective classroom facilitation. Ensures program and course outcomes are maintained to meet the required workplace skill levels for graduates. Delivers meaningful and engaging instruction throughout the duration of courses.
  • Remain knowledgeable about relevant techniques, technological advancements, and innovations applicable to the program. Incorporates engaging learning activities into course(s).

Required and Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred Qualifications:
    1. Master's in Information Technology/Computer Science Discipline or related area; or MBA with Information Technology focus; or Master's with 18 Grad Hrs in Information Technology/Computer Science Discipline or related area, or Bachelor's in Information Technology/Computer Science or related area, plus a relevant Industry recognized certification or minimum of two years' documented related industry experience or an out of discipline Master's Degree with 5 plus years relevant Industry and recognized certification.
    2. Experience in Operating Systems, Networking Administration, LAN/WAN configuration, Routing and Switching, Network Security, Cyber Security/Policy Standards, and Regulations at an enterprise level. Cisco credentialed instructor is a plus. Industry application of cyber security risk mitigation and response is desired.
    3. Individual will be able to articulate a full understanding of, and an appreciation of, a comprehensive and open-door community college philosophy.
    4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Evidence of demonstrating initiative. Three or more years of work experience in the information technology field. Certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum Qualification:
    1. For (CMET) courses: CMET 140,185, 195: Three years related work experience in the discipline PLUS CompTIA A+ Certification, CMET 215, 220: Three years related work experience in the discipline PLUS CompTIA Network+ Certification
    2. For (CNET and COMP) courses: Bachelor's in Information Technology/Computer Science or related area, plus a relevant Industry recognized certification or minimum of two years' documented related industry experience OR an out of discipline Master's Degree with 5 plus years relevant Industry and a recognized certification
    3. For (CPNS) courses: CPNS 101, 102, 205, 225: Approved Cisco Academy Instructor with applicable training, CPNS 170, 240, 280, 283: Three years related work experience in the discipline PLUS applicable Microsoft Certification, CPNS 248: Three years related work experience in the discipline PLUS Comp TIA Security Certification.



While part-time employees are not eligible for the University's benefit plan, there are certain required taxes that will be deducted from part-time employees' pay in order for the University to remain compliant with state and federal laws.
