Summary:
Summary
The Maintenance Operations Manager oversees the maintence of railcars. Direct all activities associated to ensure the railcar repairs are on schedule, within the given quality standards, meet given cost objectives, and meet or exceed customer expectations while maintaining Greenbriers Core Values of Safety, Quality, Respect for People and Customer Satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
- Develops maintenance plans and establishes necessary procedures to ensure the high standards of railcar repair are met, including labor standard hours and established customer and company Quality Standards.
- Oversees the employee workforce levels to ensure the least amount of overhead and minimum number of raw materials are on hand to meet annual budget costs.
- Directs all departmental related activities to ensure all production goals are met.
- Ensures a safe and orderly work environment free of slip/trip hazards while maintaining compliance to meet or exceed all site and regulatory safety requirements.
- Manages all departmental maintenance activities, staffing requirements, and operational supply usages.
- Communicates goals and objectives, applies company policies, coaches, administers discipline, and ensures positive employee relations.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- High School education or equivalent
- Ability to work both independently and with a team
- Intermediate proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
- Ability to collaborate and communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to find solutions to complex issues, including quickly assessing options and implementing solutions.
- Ability to recognize and mitigate risk
- Management experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spansh
- Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in railcar repair and/or related industry
- Ability to teach and implement Lean, and Lean principles and tools
