JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Pennsylvania Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) in the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State is seeking a Data Specialist to establish and ensure best practices in the collection and accuracy of process evaluation data.
What You'll Do:
- Establish and ensure compliance with best practices in the collection, accuracy, and reporting of comprehensive process evaluation data.
- Establish statewide policies and procedures related to process evaluation efforts.
- Adhere to guidelines of federal funder and other stakeholders regarding data collection and reporting standards.
- Review and approve process evaluation plans (PEP) submitted annually by statewide partners.
- Assess partner compliance with PEP and federal reporting requirements.
- Review proposals from statewide applicants for funding of nutrition education and obesity prevention programs and assist in compiling data for the PA SNAP-Ed Annual Plan.
- Collaborate with other management staff to prepare the PA SNAP-Ed Annual Report and assume a leadership role in managing the report development process.
- Identify and develop reports needed for plan development, data monitoring, decision-making, and annual report submission purposes: establish standards for data analysis and management.
- Supervise IT staff involved in application development and user support.

Required Qualifications:
This position will be filled at the Supervisor or Senior Supervisor level. The Supervisor level requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Public Health, Nutrition, Data Science/Analysis (or a related field), three years or more of relevant work experience in data collection, quality, analysis, or reporting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs
