Our client, a large manufacturer of prepared meals, is seeking a Food Process Engineer to join their team reporting to the Engineering Manager. As a Food Process Engineer, you will be responsible for working on future process lines and optimizing new equipment and processes installed into our clients current food plants. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing in a fast-pace environment, with an ability to establish priorities, multi-task, manage workload, and work under pressure which will make them successful in the organization.

Job Title: Process Engineer (Junior Level)

Location: San Antonio, TX

Salary Range: $70k-72k/yr. plus $4k annual bonus (paid $1k quarterly)

Job Type: Permanent/Direct Hire

What's the Job?

  • Conduct research and evaluate innovative processes and equipment through conventional methods and visits to professional equipment shows and vendors in North America and Europe.
  • Communicate with vendors to request quotes, verify project details, and act as a liaison during project implementation, representing the company.
  • Maintain and update project documentation in the engineering SharePoint, ensuring all necessary documentation is shared with the equipment procurement team.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at vendor locations to verify equipment compliance and functionality, and facilitate the transition from engineering to operational phases.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks or improvement needs in current plants, suggesting action plans for remodeling, and providing occasional support to maintenance and operations teams.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or Engineering or a related field with internship(s) and/or up to 2 years' experience
  • Strong knowledge of food safety requirements
  • Strong curiosity on innovation, food processing and food product
  • Ability to communicate easily with cross functional team
