We are a fast paced organization that requires an experienced technician that can work independently and collaborate with other repair team members to ensure a vehicle is safely and efficiently operating to the driver's needs.RequirementsJOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESRunning diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutionsInspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhaustsRepairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines and other associated partsConducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdownTest driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performanceCompleting oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment and brake checksMaintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehiclesTrouble calls for driver assistanceMaintain safety and cleanliness of workshopPreventative Maintenance on all vehicles and equipmentCreate work orders for repair jobs that are assigned to youOther tasks as assignedSKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSAn associates degree or certificate in diesel technology preferred3 years of diesel mechanic experience preferredAdvanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system and the mechanisms of a diesel engineIn-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanismsSuperior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipmentComfortable using mechanical and electrical power toolsExcellent problem-solving skillsKeen attention to detailBasic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronicsProficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic softwareA valid driver's licenseGood interpersonal skillsEffective collaboration and communication skillsOwn and use of own toolsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAble to lift up to 50+ lbs.Constant standing, sitting, laying, bending, squattingConstant push and pullingConstant climbing in and out of vehicles/equipmentDriving over the roadWORK ENVIRONMENTIn and outdoors - work shop, in and out of vehicles and equipmentVarious weather conditionsVarious chemicals - oil, fuel, coolants, etc.The list is not intended to be construed as a complete list of all job duties performed by persons in the position.
