KEMET, a YAGEO Group company, is seeking a Controls Engineer in the Equipment Engineering group at our Simpsonville, South Carolina location.Job Description: Engineer will handle the design, programming, and debug of the control systems on new or existing automated equipment.Responsibilities will include:Defining, designing, and documenting control systems for automated equipment.Programming automated equipment using various PLCs, HMIs and / or robot software.Debugging equipment and final qualification of equipment in production.Handle equipment changes / upgrades as necessary to improve the process and product, to increase production output, improve yields or reduce equipment cost.Work closely with production and process engineering to provide training and support during initial introduction of equipment into production.Provide trouble shooting support to production on equipment issues that cannot be solved by the production maintenance team.Work with suppliers and production as needed to replicate equipment and place equipment into production for capacity increases.Work with suppliers / outside experts to continue to improve KEMET equipment and processes.Other duties as assigned.Education and Experience: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 3 - 10 years' experience in the equipment engineering field, building and programming automated equipment / systems.Qualifications:Experience designing control systems, programming PLCs on production equipment and successfully introducing this equipment into the production environment is required.Experience programming HMI systems is strongly desired.Experience programming robot systems is strongly desired.The ability to write programs that are logically structured, well commented, and easy to understand is required.Must be able to work well in an engineering and production team environment.Must have good communication skills and be able to properly document work using MS Office products (Word, Excel) and AutoCad as required.Ability to quickly learn new PLC programming is highly desired.Experience with vision systems (Epson, Cognex, Keyence) is highly desired.The successful candidate will be a team player, will be a self-starter, have a good work ethic, good time management skills, creativity, analytical skills, and strong communication skills.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
