Talent Consultant Group is partnered with an inspection, overhaul, and repair company that is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to their growing team in Jacksonville, FL.
The person in this role will be responsible for performing engineering support for gas & steam turbine repairs, gear box and paper roll assemblies. Engineers are responsible for all evaluation of data collected, root cause analysis and support of all shop activities. The engineer will be required to work with field services to troubleshoot and resolve field-related problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with hourly workforce to complete assigned tasks with minimal direction.
  • Execute production plans with Safety and Quality as primary goals.
  • Prepare drawings and process instructions.
  • Prepare work instructions for repair processes.
  • Trouble shoot mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
  • Support inspection and operations to issue resolutions relating to all components,
  • Provide support to field service personnel.
  • Review and compare dimensional information obtained from the shop and field to help resolve discrepancies and decide the best repair path.
  • Develop and implement engineering data sheets, procedures, and quality reports.
  • Lead and support Root Cause and Corrective actions including containment, root cause investigation, corrective action development, and validation.
  • Participate in disassembly, and reassembly, providing sufficient information and recommendations to support.
  • Provide condition reports, repair recommendations and final reports.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve company goals.
  • Communicate effectively with subordinates and management at all levels.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and/or 5+ years of proven experience in Gas & Steam turbine design and repair.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and able to apply knowledge to hands on solutions.
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Prepare design drawings, details, and sketches from sketches, concepts, or mark-ups provided by Shop floor or the field service team. Draw and plot drawings to scale, as required.
  • Create and markup existing PDF documents using Adobe.
  • Assist the quality dept. and operations staff with day-to-day project functions, including researching product specifications and other support functions as needed.
  • 2 to 5 years of Fusion 360, Auto CAD or Autodesk Inventor experience
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Self-starter that demonstrates initiative.
  • Ability to take direction and act independently.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized while doing so.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Ability to function as a team member.
  • Work with hourly workforce to complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time and in environments that require frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
