Highgate Builders is hiring a full-time Accounting Manager responsible for the preparation and input of construction invoices and preparation of client draws as well as general ledger entries, preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. The ideal candidate has experience working for construction companies, but it is not necessary.

Responsibilities also include analyzing trends in revenues, costs, cash flow to predict future revenues, expenses and obligations. In conjunction with the accounting responsibilities this position also handles human resource and benefit administration.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Data entry into the QuickBooks accounting program.
  • Prepare balance sheets, income statements, shareholder’s equity, statement of cash flow, reconciliation, and other financial reports on a monthly basis.
  • Review for monthly and quarterly variance analysis. Provide review comments to staff.
  • Prepare cost accounting reports on a job by job basis for management review and comment.
  • Prepare tax and regulatory filings such as sales tax, property tax and other requirements.
  • Manage risk through insurance administration and trade/supplier policies.
  • Manage multiple entities and their associated accounting requirements.
  • Work with the payroll company, CPA firm, attorneys and business advisors in the performance of the job.
  • Prepare, coordinate and manage benefit administration including health, 401k, and other company benefits.
  • Review company benefits to competitively price and develop policies for the consistent application within the organizations.
  • Review and analyze accounting procedures to improve accuracy, timeliness and efficiency.

Skills Required

  • 3-5 years of accounting and finance experience ideally with a construction company, but not necessary.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office product, especially Word and Excel.
  • Keen attention to detail.
