Summary of Position:

The FOH Manager will carry all the same responsibilities of a server/bartender along with additional management responsibility. Servers are required to provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all of our guests. Each server's primary objective is to show our guests such a marvelous time so they will want to return again and again. In addition to these functions the Front of House Manager's objective is to assure that the dining and bar area is managed properly in order for all servers and bartenders to succeed and for all guests to enjoy their dining experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • While servers are mostly taking care of guests in their section, every guest that enters the restaurant is a guest of the FOH manager. Check with all guests to ensure everyone is served properly.
  • Meet weekly with the General Manager to discuss specials, menu changes, special events, server/bartender issues, marketing ideas, and any other issue that you have in the FOH.
  • Answer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services when the servers/bartenders need your assistance.
  • Work with the Point-of-Sale computer to become the foremost expert in the entire restaurant (for server/bartender functions). Work with servers and bartenders on any issues they might have with the computer system.
  • Maintain clean service, dining, and bar areas. FOH Manager is ultimately responsible for the overall cleanliness of the front of house.
  • Organize and maintain a FOH repairs/maintenance list for the General Manager.
  • Organize and maintain a FOH equipment/tool/grocery list for the General Manager.
  • Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise.
  • Handle any FOH guest service issues that might arise (in absence of the General Manager). FOH Manager will be an expert in guest service with regards to guest complaints, emergency scenarios, and restaurant flow.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant.
  • Access weekly beer, wine and alcohol levels and take inventory.
  • Use weekly inventory to order product from our beer and alcohol venders.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all of our FOH vendors.
  • Perform all FOH training with new servers/bartenders as per the training schedule. FOH Manager will be ultimately responsible for ensuring that all new hires for FOH are trained properly.
  • Help the General Manager assess FOH servers/bartenders for potential terminations, raises, or retraining.
  • Generate the FOH work schedule based on GM instructions, staff requests, special events, and labor goals for the restaurant.

Qualifications:

  • Be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
  • Must have an expert knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
  • Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
  • Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 20 to 25 pounds.
  • Must have at least 1 year of server experience and at least 3 months of Rotolo's server experience.
