Job Description

We are looking for a Litigation Legal Assistant for our client in Fairlawn! You will provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the litigation attorneys.
Salary:

  • $50,000-$56,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys in managing litigation cases from inception to resolution, including organizing and maintaining case files, both electronic and physical.
  • Draft, format, and proofread various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, and correspondence.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case preparation.
  • Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, client meetings, and court appearances. Manage attorneys' calendars and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. Handle client inquiries and provide case status updates as needed.
  • File documents with state and federal courts, both electronically and in person, ensuring compliance with all court rules and deadlines.
  • Assist in the preparation of trial materials, including exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders. Attend trials and provide on-site support as needed.
  • Perform general office duties such as answering phones, managing mail, maintaining office supplies, and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Paralegal certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in litigation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience with legal research databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis) and e-filing systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
