With over 10 locations and 200+ employees, Young’s Communications, LLC, along with its affiliates, is a leading provider of infrastructure services to telecommunications, water utility, and power utility customers across Florida. We are currently in search of a Construction Foreman.

As an underground foreman, you are responsible for performing construction installations as requested by Y-COM’s customers. The successful candidate must have 4+ years prior experience as an underground construction crew foreman in the telecommunications industry. The position is responsible to direct and train crew members. Crew foreman must be capable of completing accurate daily, weekly crew production reporting. Must pass a background check and drug screening. Represent Y-COM in a professional manner while dealing with the customer and the public. This position is considered “high impact” to the success of the company. The customer interface is extremely important, and this position’s performance will be closely monitored by our client and YCOM.

Summary of essential job functions:

  • Safety First! Foreman is responsible to have crew attend weekly safety meetings and ensure all company safety practices are adhered to at all times.
  • 4+ years experience in underground utility construction work
  • 3+ years with equipment operating experience (backhoe, mini excavator, trencher, plow etc)
  • Provide direct supervision and technical guidance to crew performing maintenance, new construction and emergency repair activities
  • Responsible for coordinating essential personnel on-site for the project to include crew mobilization.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, demonstrate & encourage teamwork skills and able to understand, comprehend, and follow directions in the workplace.
  • Knowledgeable of reading and understanding electronic and paper design work prints\maps, scope of work and installation specification documents.
  • Position requires daily attendance and on-time arrival.
  • Foreman ensures the maximum production of the crew on a regular and routine basis.
  • Foreman is responsible to ensure all materials are on the vehicle to meet daily production quota
  • Utilizes working knowledge of all tools and equipment to install fiber optic cable
  • Organizes and maintains security of company equipment on assigned vehicle
  • Ensure all construction activities are performed in the safest manner
  • Available to work after hours as needed for emergency repairs
  • CDL License a plus!
  • Utilizes good listening and verbal communications skills to understand and clarify the needs of YCOM crew members and company management
  • Must have a working knowledge of DOT MOT traffic control procedures
  • Wear proper safety apparel, which includes: hard hats (when exiting truck on any worksite) where required, DOT reflective work vest, and proper footwear. (boots)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75lbs, able to work in a non-climate controlled environment. Possible working in inclement weather standing and driving for extended periods of time.
