The Extended Care Tech Supervisor provides direct supervision to the Extended Care Tech staff as assigned and ensures staff competency in performing Extended Care Tech job duties. The EC Tech Supervisor provides staff coverage, maintains time and attendance, and offers support and on-going training to the Extended Care Tech staff. Oversees the delivery of services from the Extended Care Tech position. Acts as a liaison between Director of Patient Services/Extended Care Program Managers and Extended Care Tech staff.


Staff Supervision and Administrative Management

  • Earns respect and trust as a leader.
  • Conducts ongoing supervision, training, and performance coaching to ensure competency levels are met and/or exceeded.
  • Oversight of daily functioning of the Extended Care Tech staff.
  • Provides staff coverage and provides on-call support for extended care tech staff.
  • Reports any maintenance or repair needs related to the EC property through the EC work order system Manages expense reporting for Extended Care Tech staff.
  • Participates in the interviewing and hiring of Extended Care Tech staff.
  • Completes timecard authorizations and manages time off requests.
  • Maintains staff schedule to ensure coverage to meet patient care needs.
  • Performs yearly performance evaluations of Extended Care Tech staff. Maintains and performs thorough onboarding program for Extended Care Tech staff.
  • Manages inventory process for food, cleaning, over-the-counter medication supply, PPE, vehicle needs, and additional items for the functioning of the Extended Care program.
  • Coordinates with CA Driver Supervisor for any company vehicle maintenance needs. -
  • Assists in planning and implementation of disaster drills and ensures staff demonstrate competency with emergency policies and procedures.
  • Maintains department handbook with up-to-date procedures, documents, and information.
  • Maintains patient handbook with up-to-date information.

Patient Care

  • Serves as the role model for the Extended Care patient community and staff through ethical conduct while at work and in the community.
  • Assists Extended Care Program Manager with coordinating patient care needs.
  • Ensures staff competency in observing self-administered medications.
  • Performs patient medication auditing.
  • Coordinates with Medical/Nursing Department for patient medication needs.
  • Oversees staff recovery coaching and audits sponsorship agreements.
  • Maintains and updates approved mutual support group meeting list.
  • Provides peer recovery support to Extended Care patient(s)
  • Coordinates patient appointments with external service providers.
  • Provides patient transportation to and from appointments, programming, and aftercare.
  • Facilitates educational/peer recovery workshops and discussion groups.
  • Maintains knowledge of and ability to perform all duties of the extended care tech position.

Curriculum Development and Enhancement

  • Assists Extended Care Program Managers in assessing and strategic planning of improvements to the program.
  • Provides clear messaging to staff regarding program enhancement and/or changes to programming.

  • High School graduate or equivalent; prior experience in treatment center or behavioral health field required.
  • Must be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist or working towards certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • One year experience working in direct patient care department(s)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Knowledge of mutual support groups (12 Step, SMART Recovery, Celebrate Recovery, etc.)
  • Must receive Recovery Coach Academy (CCAR) certification within the first year of employment.
  • Begins and ends work as assigned and is dependable in physical presence.
  • Provides excellent internal customer service, working with other departments to ensure quality of care for each patient.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Speak and communicate clearly, basic written skills. Basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Communicate well with patients/staff; enforces policies/procedures.
  • Requires frequent and sometimes rapid mobility; must be able to negotiate the buildings and grounds.
