Location: York, PA
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Shift: 1st Shift and 2nd Shift Available
Pay: Up to $25.00/hour, depending on experience + $3.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Fitter to assemble and prepare steel components for fabrication. This role requires strong blueprint-reading skills, accurate layout and fit-up, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications
  • Perform steel layout, fitting, positioning, and assembly
  • Measure and align components to meet project requirements
  • Ensure fabrication work meets required quality and dimensional standards
  • Set up and operate a track torch
  • Use welding equipment and related fabrication tools as needed
  • Work with supervisors and other shop personnel to meet production goals and deadlines
  • Identify and address fit-up or layout issues
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all required safety procedures and regulations

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Structural Steel Fitter or in a similar fabrication role
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and materials
  • Experience setting up and using a track torch
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
  • AWS or other welding certification preferred
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Commitment to safe work practices
